I can only assume having the slimmed down dash would be useful for times when you don’t want too much in your peripheral vision, perhaps at night time, less light shining back at you from the dash

I like well built vehicles and useless things that just add complexity are not important to me. But we are in a new age of cars, I haven’t joined it yet.
